Academics

Our Academic Support Program

Academic support for basketball players is essential to a successful program. Academic advisors work closely with players to ensure their grades are up to par and that they understand the material. Coaches also have expectations for academic performance, and will often provide individual attention or encourage players to attend tutoring sessions. Student-athletes benefit from having support from both their coaches and academic advisors in order to balance academics with their sport.

Importance of academics in basketball

Attending college on a basketball scholarship is an amazing opportunity. The coaches who offer scholarships are looking for players who can not only play the game, but also excel in the classroom. Maintaining good grades is a vital part of playing basketball in college.

Athletes who have good grades are less likely to get into trouble and more likely to stay focused on their academics. This focus often carries over to the basketball court, as these student-athletes are determined to do whatever it takes to help their team win.

Basketball and academics go hand in hand. A player who can balance schoolwork with basketball is more likely to be successful in both areas. College coaches respect players who take their academics seriously and work hard in the classroom.
